Welcome to the Institute for Women's Leadership on-line alumni community! The purpose of this alumni-only mail list is to facilitate you, as alumni, in staying in communication with one another and with the IWL staff. In addition, this moderated forum allows for conversations for the practical application of the distinctions learned in IWL's programs. In this setting you can support, collaborate and coach one another. From time to time, IWL staff may pose conversation topics or coaching designed to provoke inquiry or discussion among all of us. We welcome your participation and collaboration in making this a powerful tool that supports your ongoing success and growth as leaders and IWL's growth as an organization. Please share with us what you see possible with regard to this forum. |

Sending
a Message
When posting to the list, please type one of the following descriptors,
exactly as listed, in your email subject line prior to any other information:
admin - used by IWL staff only.
coach - request for coaching from the alumni community or coaching contribution that you feel may be of benefit to alumni.
conversation - request for conversation to generate relationship, possibility, feasibility or action in your projects.
event - for anyone to announce an event they believe may be of interest to alumni.
intro - introduce yourself to the alumni community. Share your talents/skills, what your commitments and passions are, and anything else you want to be known for. It may be helpful to include the date you completed your IWL program as well.
job wanted - for alumni looking for a job. Embed resumes within your email; no attachments please.
job available - for alumni looking for talented, generous, creative leaders (you!). Embed job descriptions within your email; no attachments please.
off-topic - may be a request for referral to healthcare provider, insurance, etc. that is regional in nature. It could also be other topics that don't fit into the above descriptors. Remember, participating alumni may be from all over the US, Australia and Canada.
register - for value and accomplishment. This is one of the most important 'muscles' to develop. Share your accomplishments with the community. Include the accomplishment and what you see it allows for and what value you have contributed to others.
work/life - specifically relates to work/life integration topics.
Then, send the message to: iwlalumnae@yahoogroups.com
When you send an email to iwlalumnae@yahoogroups.com, it is sent to all list participants. When you reply, your reply goes only to the prior sender. If you want your response to go to the entire list, you must add iwlalumnae@yahoogroups.com in the email's TO: or CC: field.
Receiving a Message
The subject line of each incoming message will contain two 'descriptors,'
one that is automatically generated by Yahoo! Groups and one that you
include when you send an email. The automatic one indicates that the message
is from the iwlalumnae list. The one that you add indicates what type
of message it is (admin, event, etc.). The remainder of the subject line
contains text from you.
For example:
[iwlalumnae] event Alumni Lunch May 2nd
If your email software supports filters, you can define filters for keeping, filing, or deleting particular types of messages.
| 1. | Consider
your fellow alumni when posting or responding to an email. The universal
'do to others only what you would want done to you' applies here.
Be considerate and practice good manners. |
|
| 2. |
Keep posts brief and to the point (unlike this welcome message!). |
|
| 3. |
Do not attach documents to your posts. Doing so increases the likelihood
of spreading virus-infected documents. |
|
| 4. | Do not "flame"
the list. "Flaming", 'net-ese' for a personally insulting
or derogatory post or yelling (in all capital letters, with an especially
argumentative tone), is not tolerated. If you have a problem with
a post, please contact that person directly and resolve it between
yourselves. If absolutely necessary, the list manager may participate
in clarifying and completing any issues among alumni. "Flamers"
will be removed from the list at the discretion of the list manager.
|
|
| 5. | Do not "spam"
the list. This list is not a channel for commercial advertising. Do
not sell or promote your products to the group. If you would like
alumni to become aware of your promotional activity, add the appropriate
web site address (URL) to your signature line. Spammers will be removed
from the list at the discretion of the list manager. |
|
| 6. |
Do not forward warnings about viruses, hoaxes, rumors, chain letters, unbelievable opportunities or cute sayings to the group. Most people consider these communications the equivalent of junk mail. Please check out potential hoaxes, etc. prior to sending information to the alumni by accessing: |
