I was inspired by the performance and deeply touched by the women's stories portrayed. We laughed hard, quietly cried, and left empowered about a topic not commonly discussed --our relationships with our vaginas, our bodies, our sexuality. I applaud the many men in attendance. I can only assume they also enjoyed the performance by the volume of laughter and some of the audience banter with Eve. If you thought you missed your opportunity to see this fantastic show, it has been extended until March 4, 2001 in San Francisco. It is also showing in many other US cities. We highly recommend it! For more information go to: http://www.vaginamonologues.com/tour/index.htm Since this is February and we celebrate Valentine's Day this month, I wanted to take a moment and point out another "V-Day." This organization, founded by Eve Ensler, is described on the web site (http://www.vday.org/) as '...a global movement to end violence against girls and women. V-Day is a decision, an energy, a spirit, a day -- Valentine's Day -- for which annual theatrical and artistic events are produced in local, national and international venues to raise money and to transform consciousness.' May love be with you! Happy Valentine's Day! Upcoming
Women Leading Change program Dear Friends, As you may know Charles Schwab sponsored IWL in creating and convening the first Partners Leading Change (co-ed) program which was, and continues to be, an unqualified success. We are committed to inclusiveness without compromising our primary focus on women's leadership development. We have been at work developing a new logo and corporate identity for IWL that reflects this inclusiveness. Our new marketing materials will be unveiled at Linkage's Women in Leadership Summit, February 12th in San Francisco. The new black, white and red logo is of a man and woman side-by-side. The woman is holding the IWL 'spiral' in her raised hand. Our tag line is 'Partnering for extraordinary results.' This image symbolically represents IWL's commitment to leadership excellence including partnership between women and men. The spiral in the woman's outstretched arm represents our 'contextual leadership' approach, the true differentiator of IWL's programs and women's powerful contribution. As IWL continues to grow and develop we are continuing to primarily focus on developing women's leadership as the best way to leverage breakthrough change within organizations. Our new Programs and Services brochure begins with the following statement that is consistent with this new positioning: 'The Institute for Women's Leadership provides leadership training and consulting to women and men seeking to effect breakthrough change within their organizations. Our work empowers people to produce unprecedented results quickly. Our purpose in focusing primarily on women's leadership development is based on the belief that increasing the number and quality of women leaders exponentially improves an organization's ability to innovate, collaborate, and improve performance.' Thanks to those of you who participated in the design process and to all of you, our partners in changing the world. I want to particularly thank Sandy Caldwell, our VP of Marketing, for leading this tremendous effort with grace and dignity. Please let us know what you think of our bold new look when you get a chance to see it. (Our web site will reflect this in the next few months also.) Hugs,
