Women's Leadership Institute for Women's Leadership
Volume 4, Issue 1 – January 2003

 Note from Rayona Sharpack

Dear Friends,

As 2002 ends there is so much to be grateful for! We live in a country where we enjoy amazing privileges: free speech, clean water and air, relative safety and more choices about how to live than those in many other countries. Friends and family who love us surround most of us and we get to go to work each day and contribute to the quality of life for others. It is important to celebrate the riches we have and find ways to continue contributing to others.

IWL has a tradition of encouraging you to create a register for value and accomplishment at the end of each year. This serves to remind you how you spent your life this last year and is a way for others to view your contribution also. If you’d like more information on this, click here.

As an organization IWL has certainly expanded. With revenue growth at 47%, two new full-time employees, seven new coaches on our faculty, new global headquarters in Redwood City, expanded international programming and a client base that gives us enormous credibility and opportunity, we are poised for another breakthrough year in 2003. This all happens within our partnership with you. It is your energy, your heart and your commitment that inspires us to break new ground, swing out on the skinny branches and collaborate with broad spectrum of partners. We anticipate partnering at a whole new level in 2003. We plan on gaining visibility in several national media outlets and intend to showcase many of you and your accomplishments.

I invite you to think about 2003 for you, your family, your team, your organization, your community and your world. What is it that is still left for you to do? What impact do you want to have? What new risks are you willing to take? What new competencies will be required? Who else should you be partnering with? What additional resources will you need? What training, development and practices will you engage in to strengthen your leadership? What will you do to take care of your health and all other aspects of your life?

As you think about these questions I hope you will continue to see IWL as your partner and 50-year renewable resource. We are here for you and the network that constitutes the IWL community is here for you also. Please keep in touch with us as to your success and failures, visions and de-railers, hopes and dreams for the future.

Thank you so much for making my life such a miracle! In my darkest hours you give me light and in my greatest moments you give me strength. There is no better gift that you could give me than to have your life be great and pass along your love to others.

On behalf of Jennifer, Heather, Jenell and all the IWL associates I wish you the happiest, healthiest and wealthiest year ever.

With love and appreciation,

Rayona
