Women's Leadership Institute for Women's Leadership
 Note from Rayona Sharpack

Dear Friends,

Having just returned from Family Camp and a long 4th of July break, I am very present to how important it is to take time for meaningful conversations and visits with family and friends. While I will confess to being very dedicated to IWL and driving myself very hard to fulfill our mission, I am learning more and more how important it is to have a fully integrated life that doesn't sacrifice time with my daughter, time for healthy living, and time to just relax and "smell the roses."

I wanted to update you on the successful launch of our Executives Leading Sustainable Change (ELSC) program and how inspired I am by the phenomenal women who are participating. We have completed our first face-to-face session and first two months of coaching. What a competent, savvy, and fun-loving group! Their projects range from transforming 100-year-old organizational cultures to transforming on-line product platforms.

We had two special guest presenters who shared their successful approaches to large-scale change efforts. The presenters were Linda Kim, a long-time IWL alum, who is doing amazing things at Barclay's Global Investors and Karen Stephenson, from Netform.com, who has "cracked the code" on mobilizing the informal leadership networks within huge organizations ranging from IBM to the FBI.

We have also welcomed three executive coaches, Ellen Wingard, Debbie King, and Anne Polino who bring an enormous amount of experience and value to this group of top-notch executives. This program will undoubtedly become the "crown jewel" of IWL's curriculum over the next few years!

Within the ELSC program, we have also instituted a web-based follow up tracking system for participant goals. This electronic support system is one of the most innovative and critically needed solutions in the training and development business. It only takes five minutes every other Friday for the participants to update their goals and business challenge milestones so that they can stay on track with their commitments. We have been so impressed with this methodology that we have formed an alliance with the creators of Friday5s.com, so if after visiting their web site you are interested in learning more please let me know.

IWL has just delivered it's first WLC program in Ottawa, Canada and received rave reviews from the participants spanning both the private and public sectors as well as both U.S. and Canadian organizations. The women in the Canadian government are demonstrating leadership in the most amazing ways during very difficult economic times. We salute their commitment to serve the public needs when anyone of them could be running a large profitable business instead.

On another note, due to the overwhelming demand for our time and attention in our current client systems and my extended travel to Australia later this year, we have decided to postpone the Partners Leading Change program in Prince Edward Island until 2003. Please let us know if you have any interest in sponsoring this excellent co-ed program inside of your organization either later this year or next. Remember that men love the work of IWL too :-)

As always, the source of our strength and resolve lies in our relationship with you. There is no IWL without this generous, strong, and committed global community that we belong to. If there is anything that we can do for you...or that you would like to contribute to our work together, please let us know. In the meantime please do take care of your health, your family, and most importantly your Self.

Love,
Rayona
