 IWL Alumni Community Update
Keeping track of our 'moving and shaking' community.

Update us with your news!

Susan L. Burnett, ELSC 2002 , formerly of Hewlett Packard, has joined Gap, Inc., in a newly created position as Senior Vice President, Talent Attraction and Development. She’s leading the strategic planning and execution of all staffing, learning and organization development activities companywide. Congratulations, Susan!

Sandy Caldwell, WLF 4/94 , Doula-la! Birth Services, has been invited to speak February 4, to Stanford University’s 1st and 2nd year medical students on the topic of Labor Support and Doula Services as part of ‘The Mommies and Babies Class.’ The goal of this class is to give preclinical students, who normally have very little patient contact, a unique perspective into pregnancy, birth and infancy by pairing them with pregnant women in the community.

Joan Michelson, WLC 02/02 was recently guest columnist in ‘In Business Las Vegas.’ Her article, titled, ‘A Recipe for LV’s Resurgence,’ outlines a model for leading change and creating a community-wide movement.

Jenell Sausser, WLC 12/03 , former IWL office manager, has accepted a new position with The Benefits Source. She is a resource to small business. She shares, ‘I help small, 2-20 employee, businesses in California, with health, life, disability, and long term care insurance. Because I have almost 15 years of benefits administration within six companies ranging from 2 to 100 employees that include traditional HMO plans as well as some very custom self-funded medical and dental plans, this new position will enable me to share my expertise with others. The insurance industry is not well understood by many business owners, and I would be happy to assist in finding a plan that is both affordable and meets the needs of the individuals covered.’ We wish you all the best, Jenell!

Congratulations to Jill Lang Ward, WLC 5/03, PLC 10/03, , of Natural Resources Canada who has been promoted to Executive Director of the National Managers' Community Secretariat. Jill has gained valuable corporate and regional experience during her 32-year career in the federal Public Service. Jill’s many accomplishments were acknowledged when she received the 2000 Head of the Public Service Award, in the Valuing and Supporting People category. Jill has contributed to the National Managers' Community Secretariat in many ways since 2001, leading the Awards & Recognition program, a corporate branding initiative, and the development and publishing of publications 'Tools for Leadership & Learning' and 'Coaching Practices for Managers'. She has also been actively involved in community building initiatives.
